"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8
Local Missions
Storehouse Ministries
Storehouse Ministries is a local ministry that is fully supported by our Big Emory Baptist Association. FBC Wartburg gives monthly donations to this ministry as they seek to serve the less fortunate in our community with the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Women's Missionary Union
Our WMU goes out every month to visit shut-ins and minister with love to those who are hurting. They have also developed a birthday ministry where they give a card and gift to every staff member of our local elementary school on their birthday.
|
Baptist Collegiate Ministries
As we support Big Emory Baptist Association, we collectively support Travis Harmon as he ministers to college students at Roane State Community College. This is a vibrant ministry that is reaching many young people with the Gospel during their college experience.

Local School Partnerships
We have developed a good rapport with our local school system. Our pastor serves as Chaplain to the high school football team and worship leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). We have other members that serve on the football staff as well. Our WMU ministers to the entire elementary school staff, and we participate in Bible Release Time where we bring children from the local elementary school to the church for a Bible lesson and snack once per month.

Community Partnerships
First Baptist Church of Wartburg has close ties with our community. We have a long-standing tradition of hosting the post-Christmas parade award ceremony. This year, we are also developing a partnership with the famed Barkley Marathon. First Baptist is looking to host runners from all over the world as they register to run in this one-of-a-kind race.

American Missions
Military Ministry
Twenty-Nine Days out of most months, our pastor is Pastor Matt Ward. Two days out of most months and two extra weeks a year, First Baptist Church of Wartburg sends out our pastor to become Chaplain (MAJ) Matt Ward of the 1-181st Field Artillery Battalion of the Tennessee Army National Guard. We believe it is a mission field and intend to send our pastor out to minister to anyone in uniform that has need of a pastor. |
Disaster Relief
First Baptist has several volunteers that are willing to respond to emergency situations and disasters. Partnering with Samaritan's Purse and/or Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief, First Baptist has sent small teams to help in the wake of storms multiple times over the last several years.
